Introduction to a Global Expert
We are proud to announce the addition of Prof. Paul Hofman to Hawk Biosystems’ Scientific Advisory Board. Prof. Hofman is a highly respected figure in the global medical community, bringing with him an extraordinary wealth of experience and expertise in pathology, lung diseases, and biomarker research.
A Distinguished Career in Pathology
Prof. Hofman is the Chair of the Working Group for Pulmonary Diseases at the European Society of Pathology and a Professor of Pathology at the University Côte d’Azur in Nice, France. His career has spanned numerous prestigious institutions, including fellowships at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Harvard Medical School, Boston) and the Max Planck Institute (Tubingen, Germany). In addition to his medical degree, Prof. Hofman holds a PhD in Cell Biology from the University of Montpellier, France.
Leading Groundbreaking Research
Currently, he heads the Laboratory of Clinical and Experimental Pathology at the Louis Pasteur Hospital in Nice, where he leads cutting-edge research into the genetic and cellular mechanisms of lung cancer. His work focuses on identifying biomarkers that predict non-response to immunotherapies and targeted therapies. His aim is to improve therapeutic responses with next-generation combination treatments. Prof. Hofman also directs a research unit at Inserm U 10181/UMR CNRS 7284 (IRCAN Center), where he oversees groundbreaking research in cancer biology.
Pioneering Work in Liquid Biopsy
Prof. Hofman’s role extends beyond the laboratory; he is the director of the University Hospital Federation “FHU OncoAge” and heads the Biobank Côte d’Azur. His Liquid Biopsy Center in Nice has earned the prestigious designation of a European Expert Center in Liquid Biopsies, placing him at the forefront of this innovative diagnostic field. He is also an executive board member of the European Liquid Biopsy Society, and a member of the Royal Academy of Medicine in Belgium.
Leadership in Pulmonary Pathology
As a leading voice in pulmonary pathology, Prof. Hofman chairs the Pulmonary Pathology Working Group of the European Society of Pathology and serves on the Pathology Working Group at the IASLC (International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer). Since May 2023, he has also been the Director of the Institut Hospitalo-Universitaire RespirERA in Nice, a major initiative advancing research in respiratory diseases.
A Vision for the Future of Precision Medicine
Prof. Hofman’s unparalleled expertise in both academic and clinical research will be a significant asset to Hawk Biosystems as we continue to drive innovations in personalised medicine. His focus on discovering novel biomarkers aligns with our mission to revolutionise cancer treatment through the application of our QF-Pro® platform, providing invaluable insights for our research on immunotherapies and beyond.
We are thrilled to welcome Prof. Hofman to our Scientific Advisory Board and look forward to the impact of his contributions in shaping the future of precision oncology.
